Background
In conjunction with the first Singapore Toy & Comic Convention 2008, the organizer PI Events is holding the LEGO Build-A-Brick Competition for creative-minded Upper Primary students from schools all across Singapore!

The LEGO Build-A-Brick Competition would like to invite your school to select a team of Upper Primary students to showcase their talent and creativity at the first international pop-culture convention: the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention 2008!

In the spirit of LEGO’s “educational and creative play”, 3 to 6 students from your school may form a team to compete in this worthwhile showcase of originality to win attractive LEGO prizes, as well as an exclusive LEGO Trophy!

Your school’s team may be chosen to build a work of art based on the theme of “Icons of Singapore”, entirely out of LEGO bricks!  Ten (10) short-listed works will be showcased for up to 70,000 members of the public at the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention 2008 (Friday – Sunday, 27 – 29 June 2008).

The LEGO Build-A-Brick Competition will showcase the boundless possibilities for creative LEGO play, and will allow the students to demonstrate the power of imagination and “learning through play”, whilst simultaneously captivating and capturing the imaginations of all visitors present.

Competition Theme
The chosen theme for the LEGO Build-A-Brick Contest is “Icons of Singapore”. Each participating team of 3 – 6 students must create a structure entirely out of LEGO bricks (supplied to teams by LEGO Singapore) as an interpretation of the theme. Participating teams may interpret the theme in whichever way they choose. An “icon” of Singapore may be a place, item or person. Possible interpretations may include: the Merlion, an orchid (the national flower), Esplanade, Singapore Airlines or Singapore Flyer.

Prizes will be as follows:
Results will be announced and prizes will be given out at the awards ceremony on 29 June 2008, Singapore Toy & Comic Convention 2008. Winning entrants will receive attractive cash prizes, in addition to having their works showcased at the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention 2008.
